Green Building Initiatives

"Going Green" is a hot topic these days for many businesses. A company's real estate portfolio is often a key focus of corporate sustainability efforts, and the commercial real estate industry is discovering ways to help tenants convert existing buildings to a "greener" format.1
So, how do you define a "green" building? In general, the primary focus is on energy usage and the overall carbon footprint. Next, green buildings examine their cleaning practices, indoor air quality, and recycling efforts. Some corporate policymakers are dictating a certain level of compliance with the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating SystemTM - the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high-performance green buildings.
Wells' Property Management is closely evaluating each property in the Wells REIT II portfolio to determine current environmental impact and opportunities for enhancing sustainability.
